At an early age, Howard Miller learned to appreciate the values of craftsmanship, quality and excellence. These values became the guiding principles upon which his company was founded. Although the company has changed and grown since it began over seventy years ago its commitment to excellence and to providing customers with the finest craftsmanship and quality remains intact.
Miller was a visionary in the field of clock making, a craft passed down to him by his father. Though he initially specialized in chiming wall clocks and mantle clocks, in 1947 he created several innovative wall and table clocks. Several of these clocks, with names like the “Ball,” “Spike,” “Block” and “Spindle,” are considered iconic pieces today. In the 1960s, Miller crafted several trend-setting, avant garde clocks, including a line of ceramic wall clocks named “Meridian” and a group of inexpensive, plastic clocks called “Swing-Timers.” Many of these visionary styles are sought after by collectors.
It was also in the 1960s that the company began crafting striking Floor Clocks and Grandfather Clocks. Then, in 1989, the company began to branch out by offering Curios or collector’s cabinets. In 2004, the brand featured a new line of Bar furniture for the home followed by the announcement of a complete line of home furnishings for the living room, dining room and bedroom in 2009.
The company's Floor Clocks are built by the finest craftsmen who take great pride in leaving no detail overlooked. The exquisite sound and gleaming finish of the hand-sanded wood will add style and personality to any home. These Floor Clocks are hand-crafted works of art that will last from generation to generation.
Their heirloom-quality Grandfather Clocks are a timeless and eye-catching addition to almost any room, particularly a foyer, entrance or reception area. These Grandfather Clocks are offered in a variety of stunning designs, from traditional to futuristic.
Display your treasured objects, trophies and collectibles in one of their beautiful Curios. These Curios are offered in several striking designs, each hand-crafted of gleaming wood and glass to highlight the style and beauty of any home décor.
Howard Miller Bar furniture, including home bars, bar stools, consoles and hutches, are perfect for any den, game room or entertainment area. As with everything made by this company, the Bar furniture is built by the finest craftsmen who are committed to quality and excellence.
As demand for the company's superior products has increased, they acquired three additional companies to work with the primary facility in Zeeland, Michigan in an effort to keep up with demand without sacrificing craftsmanship, quality and excellence. The Kieninger Company in Germany crafts exquisite movement pieces that go into many Howard Miller clocks. The Hekman Furniture Company produces a wide range of high quality, hand-crafted furniture made of fine metals and beautiful woods and the Woodmark Company creates first-rate upholstered furniture.
Today, the company strives to live up to Miller’s legacy, a legacy of excellence, of striving for perfection and of finding purpose and worth in creating something of enduring value.
